The Milton Public Library’s Main Library will be reopening to the public.
The announcement came in the MPL’s monthly newsletter.
Chief Librarian Mark Williams says it’s an exciting time for the Milton Library.
Williams adds that since their Sherwood branch reopened, it’s been busy – but not as busy as before.
That’s because there’s a limit on the amount of people entering the building.
The Main Library will have the very same limit of 50 people.
Williams says that with the limited foot traffic, people have found it easier to stay safe when using the Library’s services.
Because of that, feedback has been positive.
Milton Public Library patrons are now able to use their phones to checkout items.
That gives them the chance to skip the lines, which is a positive during a pandemic.
Don’t worry though, staff members will be available to assist and answer any questions you may have. The self-checkout is available in the new Milton Library app, available in app stores now.
The Beatty Branch is the most recent MPL branch to reopen, sporting a new look thanks to recent renovations.
Patrons can expect the experience of going to the Milton Public Library to be unchanged, with the caveat that health and safety protocols will be in place. Williams says they don’t currently have a time limit for patrons, but because there is a limit on how many people can be in the building, they are preparing for the event of having to create a time limit. That’s because it’s not uncommon for people to spend hours at the library, and that could cause some issues if there are people waiting to enter.
The Milton Public Library’s Main Library will reopen to the public on Tuesday, September 8th.
