Conservation Halton has received funding from the federal government.
The local organization now has $205,000 for their Hamilton Harbour Remedial Action Plan.
The goal is to fix the Hamilton Harbour to the point where it is off the areas of concern list.
“The Hamilton Harbour Remedial Action Plan supported by the Great Lakes Protection Initiative (GLPI) funding, is a testament to the importance of government and stakeholder partnerships in addressing environmental challenges in the Great Lakes. Thanks to the renewal of GLPI funding, along with funding from provincial, regional, and municipal government partners, Conservation Halton is in its twentieth year of successfully working toward the goal of restoring the water quality and ecosystem in this Area of Concern.” – Hassaan Basit, CAO, Conservation Halton
At a press conference in Burlington on Tuesday (August 25th), Milton MP Adam van Koeverden said the funding will ensure Miltonians will be able to enjoy all of the natural wonders Halton has to offer for years to come.
“The work the Conservation Halton does, ensures that my neighbours in Milton will be able enjoy all the natural wonders of the Halton region for years to come. Through the Hamilton Harbour Remedial Action Plan, the HRCA is addressing the decline of the local ecosystem health and doing significant work to correct the problems identified. The strength of this plan is the extensive public consultations that have been done, bringing in the larger community to participate in this excellent project.” – Adam van Koeverden, Member of Parliament for Milton
