Three GTA residents are facing charges after scamming the City of Burlington out of roughly $500,000.
In April of 2019, the City of Burlington was the target and victim of what the Halton Police call, “a sophisticated email fraud scam.”
A yearlong investigation by the Fraud Bureau led to the arrest of three males. Search warrants were also executed at two homes.
Charged were:
- 37-year old Hardness Oppong of Toronto
- 38-year old Abayomi Musa of Toronto
- 39-year old Adnan Nawaz of Brampton
All three have jointly been charged with Fraud over $5000. The accused have been released pending a court appearance on October 6, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Milton.
