myFM spoke with Biostatistician for Southlake Regional Health Centre, Ryan Imgrund.
He’s been making graphs that detail the odds of contracting the novel coronavirus depending on how many people you’re with and where you’re located.
Imgrund says Halton is actually one of the better regions in Ontario to be in.
Halton entered Stage Three on Friday, July 24th. The shift came after the Region didn’t make the first cut of areas to move into the next reopening phase.
Imgrund says that with the shift, we should expect a rise in new cases.
On Wednesday, July 22nd, the Halton Region implemented a new face mask bylaw, making masks mandatory for indoor public spaces across Halton.
According to the stats, these bylaws have proven to be very effective.
Imgrund warns residents in Halton to be very cautious.
Other areas in Ontario have proven that people have started to get careless when entering Stage Three. Cases have spiked in younger people in regions like Ottawa. Imgrund says Stage Three is not a full reopening and people should continue to follow the public health guidelines of physical distancing, wearing masks, and maintaining proper hand hygiene.
