The Halton Region has set a clear goal ahead of the budget for next year: keep property taxes low.
The Report provides guidelines to staff to maintain existing service levels for Regional programs with identified pressures, including COVID-19.
The Regional Councillor for Ward 3, Mike Cluett, says that even though COVID-19 has affected revenue he doesn’t think it will impact Milton too much.
However, all that can change with the possibility of a second wave.
Councillor Cluett adds that as the COVID situation continues to evolve, the priorities can change as well.
These guidelines also aim to keep property tax increases at or below the rate of inflation 2.0%.
The 2021 Council Budget Meeting is scheduled for December 9, 2020.
