Halton Region is asking the Federal and Provincial Government for help to get acceptable internet for rural residents.
They are saying that basic internet is a fundamental and essential service accessible to all Canadian residents, both urban and rural, including increasing the eligibility of Rural Halton Region.
The Regional Councillor for Ward 1, Colin Best, says that he wants to get funding more than ever for residents.
The difference is that there seems to be a commitment from various levels of government.
The need has grown because of COVID-19.
The next steps for the Region of Halton include writing a letter to various levels of government for extending funding.
