Councillors in Milton have been swarmed with emails calling to defund the police.
On the heels of the Black Lives Matter protest, the Regional Councillor for Ward 4, Zeeshan Hamid, says that he hears people’s concerns about funding for social services.
However, he doesn’t believe that they need to take money away from the police to pay for other services.
He adds that there were notable concerns in the emails.
While there have been incidents involving the Halton Police in the past, Councillor Hamid believes that, overall, the Halton Police have done a good job.
We reached out to the Halton Police for comment, and they declined.
