UPDATE: Environment Canada provides update on Milton tornado and incoming storm
Environment Canada is warning of heavy rainfall in Halton and most of southern Ontario.
Projections show an estimated 20-30mm for the day, but the weather organization suggests that there’s the potential of 50mm to fall in one hour of the storm, and could finish with 100mm of rain in total. That said, that would be the worst-case scenario.
Some Special Weather Statements across southern Ontario are ending, with the storm passing sooner than expected; however, Milton’s remains in effect.
Videos of a tornado touching down in Milton last night popped up all over social media. We’re still working on speaking with Environment Canada directly to get more information on that story.
Localized flooding is possible so stay away from bodies of water and avoid river banks. If you don’t need to go anywhere today, stay inside.
