We are well into the boating season and, despite the pandemic, many are eager to set sail and explore the many waterways in Ontario.
Boaters are being reminded about the laws that police marine units across the province will be enforcing this summer.
OPP Sergeant Dave Hackney says the number one rule of boating is and will always be lifejackets, but not just any lifejacket.
Hackney says there are also laws for those who use stand-up paddle boards.
In fact, he says there are laws governing the use of the popular recreational activity.
He says people should check the weather forecast as conditions on the water is different than on-land and could change drastically.
Hackney says lifejackets are a requirement whether you are on a boat, jet ski, or stand-up paddle board.
He says OPP will also be making sure that impaired boaters stay off the water.
