A local park is having trouble staying litter free.
The Ford Neighbourhood Park on Leger Way in Milton’s Ward 4 recently reopened with the Town of Milton beginning to reopen its facilities.
The basketball courts have been open for a few weeks, with the fences being littered with plastic water bottles and garbage.
Town Councillor for Ward 4, Sameera Ali, calls for people to be more respectful of the property.
A few months ago, myFM covered dog walkers not picking up after their pets.
Councillor Ali says that she has noticed that even the dog walkers are getting lazy and forgetful.
She adds that she knows that people tend to get busy when having fun in the sun.
However, it’s every residents’ responsibility to clean after themselves, especially during a pandemic.
Councillor Ali reflects on the community clean-up days that took place prior to the COVID-19 outbreak.
For Earth Day, she took part in a clean-up of Ward 4 with environmental group, Sustainable Milton.
She says that if you are going to clean-up a park or a street, make sure to take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety, and the safety of everyone you interact with after the fact.
That means:
- Wearing a mask;
- Wearing gloves;
- Not touching your face;
- Washing your hands before and after;
- Maintaining physically distancing whenever necessary.
