The Town of Milton has resumed in-person meetings for marriage licenses.
The service was put on hold while Town Hall closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Director of Legislative & Legal Services, Meaghen Reid, says they wanted to make sure this service was available for the summer months.
Reid adds that public health guidelines will be utilized for the meetings.
She says people attending the meetings will be required to wear a face mask.
Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz issued the following statement:
“We know residents are eager to access services. As we progress through our recovery plan, the health and safety of both staff and the community continues to be our highest priority. The modifications to the marriage licence process is just one example of how municipalities are thoughtfully planning to reintroduce services in a safe manner.”

Four appointment slots will be available on Wednesdays at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m. Appointment requests should be made one week in advance and are limited to marriages scheduled to take place within 30 days of the request.
It costs $184 for a marriage license. They are issued immediately as long as all document requirements are met.
You can still get married during the COVID-19 outbreak. The provincial government announced at the beginning of the pandemic that, due to gathering restrictions, weddings were limited to five people. That included the couple getting married, the ordained official, and two witnesses. You can find out more here.
