To the surprise of one parent in Milton, Cheerleading is not a recognized sport in Ontario nor Canada.
Despite being recognized by the Olympic governing body, Meaghan Terry says that this news came as a surprise.
She decided to reach out to some local politicians and see if that could get changed.
Terry says that Milton MP Adam van Koeverden was quick to respond.
Meanwhile, Milton MPP Parm Gill issued the following statement:
“The Ministry is actively working with the governing organization of cheerleading to find a solution.”
Terry’s 12-year old daughter has been in cheer for over six years, and with the recent restrictions she hasn’t been able to go and see her friends.
That’s something she hopes changes soon.
