This week was declared AccessAbility week in Milton by Mayor Gordon Krantz.
During the declaration on Monday, the Town raised a flag made by 8 year old, Aayan Khan.
Khan sent his flag decorated with artwork that he feels represents inclusion, equality, and accessibility in Milton as a part of the Town’s AccessAbility Week Flag Contest.
We spoke with Aayan’s father, Saysil Khan, who says his son was excited to be named the winner.
Last year, Aayan won another competition, completing a sketch that was chosen for Remembrance Day.
Khan says it was important to Aayan to demonstrate acceptance and that disabilites can be present in anyone.
Although they couldn’t be there for the flag raising due to COVID-19, the family were able to watch via Zoom.
The family visited Town Hall to see the flag on Monday and say that it was very encouraging for them to see the flag fly.
