The Oakville Milton Humane Society has been open throughout the pandemic but are looking at opening their doors to receive walk-in traffic on Monday, June 8th.
By opening the doors for walk-in traffic they will be able to help customers who need to renew their licenses and will be able to take donations.
The Oakville and Milton Humane Society’s Executive Director Rick Perciante gives us more of an update.
He says they are working on implementing safety measures to ensure everyone abides by social distancing rules and putting up protective barriers for their staff.
During the pandemic, the OMHS switched their adoption process so that it is all done virtually. Perciante explains what that looks like now.
The Oakville Milton Humane Society will allow a 14-day grace period because they know that adopters are picking up their new friends without seeing them in person and want to ensure it’s the best fit for all.
At the beginning of the pandemic, there was a need for fosters, especially for cats. Perciante gives us an update.
The OMHS will not be running their Kindness Club or leadership program until it is deemed safe to do so.
However, there is a chance they will modify their summer clubs to be able to offer them at the end of the summer.
The society is always looking for more blankets and towels. With the new phase of reopening you will be able to make this donation in person.
