One of the industries that is widely considered an essential service is construction.
Blair Robertson is the Site Superintendent at the medical facility construction site at the corner of Bronte and Main in Milton.
He talks about how the outbreak impacted his site.
He discusses some of the safety procedures they’ve had to put in place.
Robertson adds that, at first, it was hard to get his crew to treat the virus seriously.
When the outbreak, there wasn’t a rush to finish the medical facility project.
Robertson says that’s only because it was in the early stages. He knows some buildings finished ahead of schedule to try to assist with treatments.
There are a few safety procedures that have become standard in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak. Robertson feels they’ll keep those around moving forward.
He’s very proud of his crew, and other construction workers, for being able to pull through and create a safe working environment during a pandemic.
The Town recently announced some minor reopenings. They’re working on a phased reopening process to help limit the chances of a second wave of infections.
