The Town of Milton wants you to be safe with fireworks this long weekend.
To minimize the risk of fire and burn injuries on Victoria Day weekend, the Milton Fire Department urges residents to take precautions if they are participating in family fireworks.
This year, the Milton Fire Department reminds residents that setting off fireworks in public spaces such as parks and streets is prohibited.
“We want residents and guests to have fun holiday weekend, but everyone needs to do their part to stay safe,” said Kevin Foster, Acting Fire Chief. “Residents are encouraged to learn about the risks associated with setting off fireworks and understand how to do so safely. We also hope people will continue following the emergency orders that are in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19.”
In addition, the provincial emergency order to prohibit organized public events and social gatherings of more than five people remains in effect.
Anyone wishing to set off or display family fireworks must have a temporary permit through the Milton Fire Department’s website ahead of time and will need to meet requirements
Sparklers are not considered fireworks, but must be used with extreme caution
