This year, the MS Society of Canada are taking their annual MS Walk virtual!
Due to COVID-19 regulations and knowing that the MS Society of Canada has 125 events across the country throughout the month of May, they wanted to make sure they addressed it as an important form of connection and community for those impacted by MS.
Executive Director of Marketing and Events, Becky Mitts, talks about what a virtual MS Walk will look like.
Mitts says that COVID-19 presents additional concerns to an already challenging disease, so there is a need more than ever for information, resources, and support.
They also invite people to participate in their online movement, ‘We Challenge MS’.
Throughout the day on May 24th, a number of artists and influencers will be taking part in a Virtual Music Fest MS that has been organized by Ben Click. Participants include Jess Moskaluke, Aaron Goovin, Carolyn Dawn Johnson and more. This will be streamed on Ben’s YouTube channel at 4 p.m.
Mitts shares that this year there was a gaming stream online called, ‘Gamers vs. MS’, where they had a week long stream that raised close to $40,000.
She says you do still need to register.
This year, they are choosing not to focus on a fundraising goal as they understand the financial struggle some many be facing due to COVID-19.
Don’t forget to include #WeChallengeMS when you’re sharing what you’re doing.
