The annual Fast with Muslims event is moving online.
Each year, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at hold the fasting event at Milton’s Paramount Fine Foods during Ramadan.
Director of Advocacy, Maqbool Sheikh, says they wanted to find an interactive way for people to experience Ramadan, even during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Sheikh adds that they’re still figuring out the plans for everything, including if they can involve Paramount in some way.
Some beginners to fasting have said that keeping busy during Ramadan has been a big help for them. That could change now that people are in their homes more often. Sheikh says that even though you may be self-isolating at home during the holiday, fasting shouldn’t really change too much.
It’s possible that the virtual Fast with Muslims event could be incorporated to the in-person event moving forward.
Sheikh gives an open invitation to people, regardless of religion or creed.
Local delegates such as Milton MP Adam van Koeverden, Milton MPP Parm Gill, and Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz are expected to be involved in some capacity.
The virtual Fast with Muslims event is free to sign-up.
It’s on Saturday, May 2nd, from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.. Click here for a link to register.
