The Halton Region has confirmed a COVID-19 related death.
The man was a Milton resident in his 50’s with previous medical issues.
This is the second death in the province, and first in Halton.
Medical Officer of Health with the Halton Region, Dr. Hamidah Meghani, goes into further detail on the patient.
Dr. Hamidah Meghani says they’re concerned with how the man contracted the virus.
He also did not have any contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient.
Dr. Hamidah Meghani demands the novel coronavirus to be taken seriously by the community.
Dr. Neil Rau, Medical Director, Infection Prevention and Control, Halton Healthcare, says he cannot specify the medical issue the man faced.
He adds that it was a chronic issue, but the man still had a high-quality life in his future.
