COVID-19 has been playing a role in disrupting our day-to-day lives.
While most people remember to sneeze into our sleeves, and cough into our arms, others who are suffering from Alzheimer’s or Dementia may not.
Former Member of Parliament Lisa Raitt tells us what it can be like when she’s out shopping with her husband, Bruce.
She says that the best way she deals with an issue like that is not to try to educate in the moment, but post on social media as a reminder.
Raitt says that her husband, Bruce, is used to seeing people come in every day but with health workers not making daily visits, the routine has been broken.
Also – remember that folks with dementia or Alzheimers may forget or not understand what is happening. Bruce has had a cough for weeks – gets it every winter. He can’t remember to cough into his elbow or to sanitize his hands. https://t.co/3MiXWklWSR

She says while taking care of Bruce each day can seem like much of the same.
She adds that in her situation she knows that helping Bruce feel more informed is the best course of action each day.
