
March is Fraud Prevention Month, and Ontario Provincial Police want you to always be wary of scams.
Detective Sergeant Ted Schendera says fraud is something that’s reported every day across our country.
Schendera says police officers work closely with the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre to help prevent scam.
Schendera says it’s all about education.
In the last year alone, Canadians have been defrauded over $97-million dollars.
He adds that OPP work closely with the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre to help victims of fraud, and prevent more people from falling for scams.
Locally, the Halton Region Police is holding a Frauds and Scams seminar at the Halton Regional Police Headquarters, Community Room, from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, on Thursday March 12, 2020.
