Two weeks before March Break the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association was out on the picket line in Milton.
With several strikes throughout the year, Shawn Roberts, a teacher at Jean Vanier Secondary School says that it has been difficult to maintain a routine.
Alberta Erme also says she is doing her best to keep some sort of routine during the strike.
Days before, the Minister of Education Stephen Lecce made an announcement regarding the ongoing negotiations.
He says the government has agreed to not increase classroom size for the new school year in the fall and changes would be made for the e-learning courses.
Krista Hutchinson, a teacher within Milton, reacted to Minister Lecce’s announcement.
The government said, however, it is sticking with its compensation requests – 1% per year for a three-year contract.
Currently, there are no new strikes planned for any of the four teacher unions.
