Kids were getting plenty to eat for breakfast yesterday at Milton’s Martin Street Public School.
Halton Food For Thought is running ‘Feeduary’ this month.
The purpose is to raise awareness for the organization’s Student Nutrition Programs.
Milton MP Adam van Koeverden was at the event helping serve food.
He talks about the importance of getting a good meal to start the day.
van Koeverden adds that the federal government is investing in before and after school care programs.
He says they’re looking into bringing programs like the Boys and Girls Club to Milton.
The goal would be to provide as many opportunities for parents to make sure their kids are getting a great start.
Halton Food For Thought Board Member, Meghan Longfield, explains the mission of the organization.
Longfield adds that it’s not needs based.
She says even if a kid forgets their lunch or lunch money, they can take food from the snack box.
