January is Crime Stoppers Month.
All Crime Stoppers Units are hoping to highlight the help and support they receive from the community, as well as their volunteers.
On Thursday, January 16th, Crime Stoppers of Halton held a free event at the Halton Police Headquarters in Oakville.
This year’s theme is “Creating Partnerships Against Crime”.
Recently, the Chapter in Toronto chose to no longer offer rewards for tips.
Halton Chapter’s Executive Director, Colin Jessome, says they will not do the same.
Jessome adds that he wants residents to understand that Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization.
Adding that they are not a part of the police force, but rather work alongside them.
Jessome, wants people to call Crime Stoppers whenever they have suspicions.
Jessome, tells you how to get involved with the charity.
They also run bi-annual shred events to help raise money.
