Action Milton raised awareness and money in their fight against the Campbellville quarry with their auction and garage sale at the Gambrel Barn at Country Heritage Park on Sunday.
All dollars raised will go towards the legal fees and environmental reports they’ve needed to support their fight.
So far their efforts have raised over $150,000.
Chair of Action Milton, George Minakakis, says they need another half-million dollars; however, it depends on whether or not an environmental assessment takes place.
Legal backing and reports cost $35,000 to $45,000 each.
Action Milton doesn’t know how many they will need.
Other groups have had to raise $900,000 to $1 million to make their case.
Minakakis says having the support of newly elected MP, Adam van Koeverden, will be key going forward.
Minakakis says it’s about the impact on the different levels of government they weren’t able to explore during the election.
