The Town of Milton has joined the United Nations in declaring yesterday the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.
Mayor Gordon Krantz was joined by others including Councillors Kristina Tesser Derksen and Colin Best at Town Hall.
Together they read the proclamation in front of others representing charities.
One of those representatives was Tyler Moon the Head of the Poverty Roundtable.
He says that this is just the start.
Joining the Councillors and Mayor was Graham Hill from Food for Life.
When it comes to the goal, he says the solutions are there.
Councillor Tesser Derksen says that it will take more than just a proclamation to make a difference.
She also added that this is an opportunity to highlight their stories, and bring awareness to the issue within Halton.
