On October 2 and 3rd, they inspected 308 commercial vehicles at the Mohawk Raceway in Milton.
99 vehicles were taken out of service, 239 charges were laid and 11 licence plates were seized by the police.
The top 5 charges laid this year were:
– failure to complete daily inspections
– vehicle maintenance
– failure to obtain annual inspection certificate
– cargo securement
– weight violations
This year the Halton Police also conducted impaired screening tests.
This resulted in 182 impaired driver screenings being performed, with 179 pass results.
The drivers who didn’t pass were given suspensions for being in violation of the zero alcohol or drug provisions for commercial motor vehicles under the Highway Traffic Act.
The Halton Police conducted this blitz with the help of neighbouring police, the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finance and Environment.
