
Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz has declared that Saturday, October 12th will be World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.
The proclamation happened yesterday morning at Town Hall.
The Townsend Smith Foundation had Board and Committee Members in attendance. They have worked tirelessly to try and bring a hospice to North Halton.
Director of Development, Kate Holmes, talks about why having a day dedicated to hospice care makes sense.
Holmes adds that the Townsend Smith Foundation will be holding a candle lit service tomorrow (Thursday, October 10th).
Town Councillor for Ward 1, Kristina Tesser Derksen, was in attendance for the flag raising.
From her work as a funeral director, she says hospice care is something we may all need one day.
During the proclamation, Tesser Derksen mentioned that hospice care really affected families positively for the funeral processions.
The candle lit service will be at 1 Chris Hadfield Way, starting at 7:00p.m. tomorrow night.
