Conservation Halton has released a flood outlook statement that will remain in effect until tomorrow.
As rainfall of up to 25 mm is forecasted over parts of south central Ontario beginning this afternoon and extending into Wednesday with highest amounts forecasted along the Western shores of Lake Ontario.
Strong thunderstorms have also been forecasted in the region that could bring an additional 25-50 mm to localized areas.
Conservation Halton says they are not expecting widespread flooding, however fast flowing water and flooding of low lying areas and natural floodplains is possible.
They are asking residents to keep themselves and their children away from watercourses, bridges, culverts and dams as elevated water levels, fast flowing water and slippery conditions will make these locations more dangerous.
Conservation Halton will continue to monitor the weather conditions and will release more messages if necessary.
