Local dignitaries got to tour around the region for the 38th annual Farm and Food Tour.
The event showcases the innovative ways that Halton’s agriculture community is contributing to the growth of Canada’s agri-sector.
Halton Hills Regional Councillor and appointed rep on the Halton Agricultural Advisory Committee, Clark Somerville, has been along for roughly 17 of these tours.
He talks about one of his favourite parts from the day yesterday.
Somerville adds that agriculture in Halton is a billion dollar industry.
He says he’s amazed at what is done locally for the sector year-in and year-out.
He talks about it’s been influential across the country.
Somerville adds that one of his favourite parts of the Farm and Food Tour was a stop at Wheelbarrow Orchards, just north of Milton.
He says it’s remarkable to see the work done on all fronts by a local farm.
Yesterday’s Tour ended with a dinner celebrating 40 years of the HAAC.
