The Government of Ontario is funding local farmers and their projects to help enhance their businesses.
The provincial government will be committing up to $10.8 million to Ontario farms and agri-food businesses.
More than 740 projects are expected to benefit from the funding.
Milton MPP Parm Gill says one local project will be receiving up to $25,000.
In a statement, Gill adds the Ford government is focused on supporting local farmers across Ontario.
“We are committed to supporting farmers and the agri-food sector in Milton and across Ontario,” said MPP Gill. “As demonstrated through the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, our government recognizes the tremendous opportunity for growth in the agri-food sector, and we will continue to send the message that Ontario is open for business.”
Some examples of projects supported through this programing include:
– Building or using new technologies to improve housing of farm animals;
– Developing new products to support retaining, growing or finding new markets for farm
commodities;
– Improving the food safety-traceability systems on farms to meet or exceed international
certification standards.
