Milton Town Council passed a motion on Monday that will result in the launch of road safety campaign that will last for two months.
Town Councillor for Ward 4 Sameera Ali brought the motion forward after seeing its success in her former neighbourhood in Mississauga.
She says that she recently picked up signs from Mississauga and they are now on her property.
Councillor John Challinor didn’t support the notion because he has a bigger idea for constant communication.
Challinor says that in the past he has had people with speed signage on their property and it didn’t work.
Regional councillor for Ward 1 Colin Best, has spoken with police officers who are equally as frustrated.
He helps us get a visual of why action needs to be taken.
Best adds that this is a temporary solution and we need to get the enforcement and increase the penalties for speeding.
$2000 is available from the 2019 budget to cover the costs of this campaign.
