
The Province of Ontario is forecasting a bad flu season this year.
Early reports from Australia show unusually high activity for this time of year.
Associate Medical Officer of Health with the Halton Health Department, Dr. Joanna Oda, says Australia can be a good indicator for what’s to expect in North America.
Dr. Oda adds the flu shot remains the number one most-effective way to fight the flu.
However, she says the shots effectiveness does vary each year, depending on the strength of the strain of influenza.
Dr. Oda says your second best option is to wash your hands routinely.

She says Australia has been a frequent indicator for North America’s possible flu seasons.
North America’s flu season typically starts in the fall and winter months.
