Woman Charged After Leaving Baby in Hot Car

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested after reporting leaving an 11-month old baby alone in a hot car on Sunday for an hour and a half.

The woman was parked at Trafalgar Road just south of Dundas and left her child unattended.

Police say she was shopping in a nearby store.

The child was assessed by paramedics, and was cleared of any physical harm.

Members of the Child Abuse and Sexual Abuse Unit took over the investigation and charged her with abandoning a child and failing to provide the necessities of life.

She was released and is scheduled to be in court in July.

Halton Police Chief Steve Tanner said on twitter that police need everyone to be aware of the dangers of heat in vehicles.

He asked residents to do their part to prevent another tragedy.
