Sports Celebrities Share Stories, Advice, At Gala

It’s hard to believe the Milton Chamber of Commerce’s Sports Celebrity Dinner and Auction already took place a week ago!

Our myFM reporter had an opportunity to speak with some of the celebs at the event about their journeys.

Former Toronto Maple Leafs Assistant Captain and member of the 1972 Summit Series Team Canada roster, Ron Ellis, shares his favourite memory of his career.

Ellis adds it was an honour for him to be able to attend the event and to help local students with their college or university aspirations.

10-time Stanley Cup winner, Yvan Cournoyer, says to find your passion in work and in life.

Cournoyer adds the scholarships are a great way to inspire young people to continue their education and ultimately, for them to find their dream career.

Hockey Hall of Famer and a pioneer for women’s hockey, Geraldine Heaney, says athletes should pursue hockey as a career, only because of their passion for the game.

Heaney adds that anytime she can come out to support such an event, which encourages students to pursue higher education, is number one.

The 16th Annual Sports Celebrity Dinner and Auction was a fundraiser to create seven scholarships for local students heading to post-secondary.
